The Cape Coast Circuit Court has sentenced two suspects to 80 years imprisonment for robbing Okada Rider and in the process killing him with the aim of using his body parts for money rituals.
The suspects received 40 years each for robbery alone and to reappear before the court on 28th November 2024 for the charge of murder.
Bryt Fm News reported on 14th of July 2023 that, a 22-year old boy, Francis Mawunya and his friend Benjamin Acquah had board an Okada rider from Awutu Bontrase to Awutu Mfadwen but upon reaching a section of the road, the suspects robbed the motorbike and also killed him for money rituals.
The suspects killed the the 18-year old boy, Kwame Ogyam, took his motorbike and removed his body parts in attempt to use them for money rituals to buy lavish cars for the celebration of 2023 Awutu Awubia Festival.
However, the Cape Coast Circuit Court on Tuesday has sentenced the suspects to 80 years imprisonment with hard labour and to reappear before the court on 28th November, 2024 after been charged with murder.
After the court ruling, father of the Deceased, Kwame Darko expressed joy and also called on parents to take proper care of the their children to avoid such acts
Meanwhile, some family members commended the Police and the judiciary for given them Justice.
