The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of Effutu constituency which has been on its knees saw party members hitting the streets to kick against the imposition of James Kofi Annan, who they say is an alien in the affairs of the party as their candidate.
Upon reaching the party’s constituency office in Winneba, a section of the party members bared their teeth to James Kofi Annan saying the party is disintegrating because a New Patriotic Party (NPP) member is being imposed on them.
Explaining the rationale behind their demonstration, one of the demonstrators indicated “We know the history of the NDC. These happenings are very foreign to the NDC. He is bringing chaos into the NDC. We want to serve our party but not under these circumstances. We are very angry. Whenever he (Kofi Annan) sees you, he walks past you without greeting you. We want Kofi Annan to step down”.
Another gentleman indicated that if the party’s duly elected parliamentary candidate has stepped down, best practices and the constitution of the party mandate the one who came second in the primaries to lead the party, and that’s what they are calling for.
This development led to James Kofi Annan allegedly unleashing his thugs to beat up the demonstrating party members with many sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The clarion call of the rank and file of Effutu NDC is simply that Kofi Annan is not fit to lead them and must be expelled from the party.
