The Central Regional Fire Command has commissioned a newly built Music Department for the Fire Angels and Fire Regimental Bands in Cape Coast.
The building which is named after the late former Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Edwin Ekow Blankson was constructed out of the donations of individuals in Cape Coast after several appeals and was commissioned by the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan and assisted by DCFO Fanny Simpson who stood in for the Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Julius A. Kuunuor.
The commissioning was aptly witnessed by the Royal Abradze Family which the late Chief Fire Officer belonged.
It was an emotional moment when the Mother of the late Chief Fire Officer, Madam Mercy Arhin was invited by the Regional Minister to join in cutting the tape. She could not control her tears as the rest of the family became so emotional.
The family expressed their appreciation to the Service for immortalizing their son.
The Central Regional Minister appreciated the Command and the Service for putting up such an edifice to help the Bands Personnel. She singularly acknowledged the exceptional performance of the Fire Angels during functions.
DCFO Fanny Simpson who happened to be the former Central Regional Commander on behalf of the Chief Fire Officer lauded the people of Central Region for the support given to the Service in the construction of the building.
The Regional Commander, ACFO I John Amarlai Amartey said the project will ease the congestion at the existing office space and also give enough space for the Bandsmen to rehears well and also relief offices that use to endure the loud music from their rehearsals.
