The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region has suspended its Communications Officer, Carlos Anokye and seven.
This follows an open declaration by the coordinators to support Independent Candidate, Kwame Obeng Asare popularly known as ‘A Plus’.
On Monday, some coordinators of the NDC in the constituency in a press conference described their parliamentary candidate Kwame Deen Yawson, as non-marketable and incapable of winning the seat for the party in the 2024 parliamentary elections and that prefers Kwame Obeng Asare (A Plus) to replace the PC as their candidate.
At a crunch meeting on Wednesday following this development, the party asked its Communications Officer to step aside and relinquish all his duties together with seven other coordinators.
It has been alleged that, prior to the press conference on Monday, some party members revealed that the communications officer held a meeting at his residence with ‘A Plus’ and his supporters with four campaign vehicles parked in front of his residence.
A party member told journalists that the Communications Officer on this same day he is alleged to have held a meeting with A Plus, was supposed to accompany other Party Executives to a funeral but failed to show up. When questioned, he replied of not being well and that he couldn’t attend the funeral.
The media in an interview with the Gomoa Central NDC Chairman Kofi Afful, said the decision party by the party is only but to establish the truth of the matter.
Some party executives including the Organizers, Youth Organizer, Women’s Wing and some Party Sympathizers condemned the act and urged constituents of Gomoa Central to believe in the NDC candidate, Mr. Kwame Deen Yawson that he is capable of representing them and addressing their concerns.
