A horrifying incident has occurred this morning in Volta Bar, New Nkusukum a suburb of Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region where a man believed to be in his 30s have sustained a life-threatening injuries following the explosion of a vulcanizer machine.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim identified as Richard believes to be 35 years old, was inflating a tyre when the machine suddenly exploded.
The force of the blast caused multiple injuries, including the gruesome exposure of his intestines, leaving many eyewitnesses in shock.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Roman Hospital in Mankessim for emergency care considering the severity of his condition, he was later referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Several other individuals who sustained minor injuries during the incident were also taken to the hospital for medical attention.
Maame Asha, an eyewitness who was present at the scene, recounted the terrifying moment in an interview with Bryt Fm News correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah explained how it came about.
Isaac Opoku, a shop owner whose store is located near the accident scene, also expressed his shock and described how the incident unfolded.
Other witnesses shared similar accounts and urged vulcanizers to regularly inspect their equipment to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
As of now, authorities have not released an official statement, and investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
