Despite earlier numerous reportage on the out sterling performance of the Awutu Senya East and West districts in the Central Region last year, it seems there is nothing to show for it, an assessment done by the office of the Head of Local Government Service has revealed.
The assessment is to evaluate the performances of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country over the year under review.
The Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) for Awutu Senya East and West, Michael Essuman Mensah and Stephen Kwame Quaye respectively, have boasted of performing well as districts, gaining lots of media attention and praise but the release of the assessment seems to differ from earlier pronouncements.
The assessment in relation to the Central Region, Awutu Senya East came 17th position with 71.06%, with Awutu Senya West in the 18th position with 70.63%.
Nationally, Awutu Senya East was on the 171st position with Awutu Senya West also at the 174th position, a mark that differs from what the various MCEs have earlier boasted of doing.
Surprisingly, both districts have well-meaning personalities as Members of Parliament (MPs), being George Andah, Awutu Senya East and Deputy Communication minister, as well as Mavis Hawa Koomson, MP for Awutu Senya West and Minister for Special Initiatives.
Meanwhile, media practitioners in the Central Region have expressed disappointment in the performance of the two Assemblies, indicating that, the leadership of the Assemblies have not delivered to expectations despite many publications they have done in their favour.
