An unidentified man in his fifty’s has been found dead with his penis removed by his assailants at Saltpond in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region.
The almost decomposing body of the deceased was found in a building under construction Monday, January 25, 2021, in a bush where he was dumped.
His body was found by some teenagers in the Saltpond community who were going to harvest Nim tree leaves.
Assembly Member for Saltpond Nkubem Electoral Area, Francis Ekow Dotse narrated that “I was returning from work when I met some schoolchildren who told me there was a dead body here so I called Police and Environmental officers they came to take the body. We are going to announce for families to identify the body. The person is not known in Saltpon or Komante so we want the media to help us identify their families.”
According to him “the deceased could be 50 to 60 years. We noticed there was blood from the nostrils, again it seems he was strangled or clubbed at the neck side, and then again his penis cut off”
Some residents gripped with fear told Bryt News Central Regional Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah that, this is the first time such an incident has happened in the community.
“Our Children always use the same path to school so we are concerned for the safety of our kids. We sometimes come back from our workplace in the evening and this will make us live in fear and panic, so we are calling on police to always patrol our area.”
The Chief of the Area, Nana Kwaw Bonko also appealed to the Assembly to provide them enough streetlights and replaced damaged ones to illuminate the community.
