The Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu Constituency , Alhaji Kassim Zuberu has charged the media to take key interest in the public education of the deadly disease “Hepatitis B”.
According to the MCE, Hepatitis B is 500 times dangerous than HIV/AIDS, but most of the media houses does not pay attention to that, the media most at time advertised the prevention of HIV/AIDS than Hepatitis B.
Mr Alhaji Kassim Zuberu also ceased the opportunity to call on all media houses to pay more attention and educate the public to know how important it is however, plead the government to add accessing of Hepatitis B treatment on National Health Insurance scheme benefit package.
In an interview with the Project Manager, Mumbies Foundation, Israel Adobley stated that, the Media has a major role to play in protecting ourselves from this strange disease by using their media platforms for creating awareness about the disease.
Mr. Israel Adobley made mentioned this when addressing the Media during Hepatitis B health screening organised by Hon. Afenyo Markins, the member of parliament for Effutu consistency at Effutu Municipal Assembly premises.
According statistics from the Ghana Medical Service(GMS), indicated that, about 4million youths in Ghana are infected with Hepatitis B and therefore calling on the Ministry of health to enroll Hepatitis B patients on the National Health Insurance Scheme Program because treating in Ghana is more expensive.
