A female passenger died at the spot, whiles 13 others also sustained severe injuries after the car they were traveling with involved in an accident at Gomoa Anteadze near Apam on the Kasoa – Winneba – Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.
Information gathered indicates that, a Toyota Haice loaded from Agona Swedru to Takoradi attempted to overtake vehicles infront of him but could not succeed.
Confirming this to Bryt Fm News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah via phone, Apam District Fire Commander, Assistant Chief Fire officer(II) Ankomah Nuamah revealed that, when the driver of the Toyota Hiace saw that another car was facing him, he decided to drive on the shoulder of the road but could not succeed and eventually run into a ditch.
The Fire Commander narrated the car somersaulted several times before landing in the ditch which resulted to the death of the female passenger.
He said personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service at Apam managed to remove the stacked passengers from the vehicle and rushed them to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, St Lukes Catholic Hospital in Gomoa Apam and Mankesim Hospital respectively.
