A police officer has been crushed to death when on a night duty at police checkpoint at Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s Junction on the Winneba – Kasoa Highway.
The Incident happened on Friday June, 21, 2024 around 11pm.
Sources gathered reveals the accident involved three vehicles crushing the police officer to death.
The vehicles which is made up of a Kia Truck with registration number GR – 6419 -N, a trailer with registration number GE – 5468 -22 and a Fuel tanker also with a registration number GY – 2186 -13.
The over speeding Kia Truck which was heading towards Mankessim crushed the police officer at a checkpoint in Gomoa Mpota near Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s Junction and continued by hitting a long trailer vehicle as well as a Fuel Tanker parked along the Highway for checks.
An Eyewitness who narrated the incident to Bryt FM News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah said the Kia Truck driver was sleeping whiles driving, hence causing the accident.
According to an Eyewitness, they were at their houses when they heard the crush and upon rushing to the scene saw the ghastly accident.
Three persons who were on board have also been injured.
The injured persons are now receiving treatment at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased police officer have been also deposited at the same hospital Morgue for autopsy and preservation
The case has since been reported to the police for investigation.
