Ghana Women’s Premier League champions, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, have received an amount of Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 500,000) from President Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo to boost their participations towards the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League.
The team paid a courtesy call on the President on Wednesday October 25, 2023 at the seat of government to purposely present the various trophies they had won to him and also seek for his blessings for the task ahead of them.
The President congratulated the team for the success and hard work and further advised them to stay focused for the main task ahead and expressed his optimism that the CAF Women’s Champions League trophy will also be presented to him after the competition.
He indicated that the football governing body and the Youth and Sports Ministry must do well to provide any needed support to all female teams in Ghana thereby ensuring gender equity as far as the support for football is concerned.
The president made the cash presentation to them when the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Hon Evans Opoku Bobie together with the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon Kwasi Adu-Gyan led the management and the team to call on H.E the President at the jubilee house.
The team expressed their profound gratitude to the President for his generosity towards them and promised to make the entire nation proud at the continental competition.
In attendance were the Chief of Staff, Madam Frema Opare, Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, Team Manager of the club, Nana Kwame Effah together with other technical team members.
