A group of Canadian veterinary students has embarked six-week practical field learning and impact project in Eastern Region of Ghana working side by side with farmers in the Suhum Municipality.
This collaborative initiative, designed to bridge academic learning and practical field experience, has proven mutually beneficial for both the visiting students and the local farming communities.
The program, aimed at promoting sustainable agribusiness and animal health practices, gave students firsthand exposure to the everyday realities of farming in rural Ghana.
From animal husbandry to sustainable agriculture techniques, the initiative broadened the knowledge base of everyone involved.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Suhum,Hon. Lydia Ohenewa Sarah, met with the students for an open dialogue.
During the session, they explored innovative ways to make agribusiness more appealing to young people and strategies to support local farmers in enhancing their operations.
These students are participating in volunteer and internship programs organized by Veterinarians Without Borders Canada (VWB/VSF-Canada).
Launched in 2017, these programs offer young Canadians the chance to gain international experience while contributing their skills to local animal health initiatives in Ghana.
