Many car owners in Two -Streams a suburb of New Juaben South in the Eastern Region were left stranded Monday morning after failing to spark their cars due to mass car battery thefts that occurred last night.
A gang of car battery thieves invaded the community at night and succeeded in stealing many car batteries.
Bryt FM News can confirm that at least ten (10) cars parked in both gated and non-gated houses were affected.
Some of the affected car owners narrated that “I just woke up to spark my car as you can see I am dressed up going to work but there was no light display on the dashboard so decided to check the terminal, little did I know that the battery has been stolen”
Another victim also said “I just realized my car battery has been stolen. I am stranded right now because I need to get to Anyinam by 10am”.
Though this is not the first time such an incident has happened, it is rather the first time such a large number of batteries have been stolen at night.
The Assembly Member for Two-Streams Electoral Area, Hon. Francis Tetteh told Bryt FM News that, security at the Electoral area is poor. He said Two Streams Electoral area hosts the Regional Medical Stores, bungalows for Doctors and Nurses, Nursing Training College, Hotels and Guesthouses as well as other prominent personalities but there is no Police post.
He said, though negotiations are underway with the police to provide a police post, there is no land available for the proposed project hence appealed to landlords in the area to lease land to the Police administration for the project.
Hon. Francis Tetteh hastened to add that, he will soon form a watchdog committee to provide security in the interim.
