The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has upheld the Ghana Football Association Elections Committee decision to disqualify George Afriyie from the 2023 GFA Presidential race.
Mr. Afriyie was disqualified from contesting incumbent, Kurt Okraku during the elections back in October 2023 for misinterpreting the criteria for contesting the GFA Presidency.
After seeing his appeal dismissed, Afriyie went ahead to protest against his disqualification at CAS.
After several months, the football law making body has ruled against George Afriyie.
Reacting to the ruling, the former GFA Vice President said he has accepted CAS’s verdict and also express gratitude to everyone for the support throughout the period.
“I have today received the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) regarding my appeal against the Decision of the Elections of the Ghana Football Association”
“The CAS, in their decision have upheld the decision of the Election Committee of the GFA”
“I take the decision in good faith. I express my sincere gratitude to everyone who supported me during this period” he wrote on social media.
