Director for Governance, Justice, and Peace for the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Rev. Fr. Michael KA Quaicoe has defended an earlier press release by the group concerning the stand not to take donations from persons involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
He explained the decision by the church is in the right direction if only Ghana is ready to fight the galamsey menace and other crimes.
In an interview with Bryt fm Adekyee Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney, Rev. Fr. Michael KA Quaicoe indicated the church is worried about the menace of galamsey but is not convinced with the way authorities are dealing with the issue.
He added the decision has become necessary because Ghana has failed in utilizing the natural resources as God expected us to do.
He used the opportunity to appeal to other religious groups and leaders to be bold enough and question the the source of donations they receive from church members and other persons.
