A highly regarded entrepreneur, Dr. Agyekum Addo established a remarkable legacy in Ghana’s pharmaceutical sector. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Master’s degree in Industrial Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), he started his career by opening a small pharmaceutical shop in Kumasi in 1983.
This led to the founding of the KAMA Group in 1986, a conglomerate now spanning 11 wholesale and retail outlets across Ghana.
Beyond pharmaceuticals, his business ventures include micro-finance, real estate, and a multi-purpose conference center.
Dr. Agyekum Addo was also dedicated to education, establishing the Kama Education Project to train teachers on instilling entrepreneurship in young students.
He authored several books aimed at fostering resilience and ambition in the younger generation in entrepreneurship.
Despite his success, he recently shared his personal financial hardships, attributing to the impact of Ghana’s banking sector cleanup on his retirement savings, accumulated over 30 years.
He also gained attention earlier this year for his unique advice on health, suggesting that men admire traditional Koforidua beads to extend their lives and advocating for better promotion of the local bead industry.
He recently graduated with PhD at KNUST.
Dr. Agyekum Addo’s contributions to Ghana’s economy and society have left an indelible mark, particularly in the pharmaceutical field and in community development through his roles as a leader, mentor, and advocate.
