The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman of the party.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Chairman Wontumi acknowledged that the NPP has faced significant challenges in recent times, noting that the current moment requires steady, principled, and unifying leadership to reposition the party for the future.
He emphasized the need for a leader who embodies grassroots values, appreciates the contributions of all party members—from elders to the youth—and is prepared to make sacrifices for the collective good of the party.
According to him, his decision to seek the national chairmanship was taken after prayer and consultations with party elders. He stressed that his ambition is not driven by personal interest, but by a commitment to strengthen, rebuild, and unify the NPP.
Chairman Wontumi noted that the road ahead will demand vision, courage, and unwavering determination, adding that true leadership at this stage requires bravery, difficult decision-making, and a willingness to put the party first at all costs.
He expressed confidence in the party’s readiness
for the task ahead, stating that the NPP is organized and prepared for the political battles leading to the 2028 general elections.
“Together, we will restore confidence, empower our grassroots, and position the NPP for a decisive victory in 2028,” the statement said.
He concluded by invoking blessings for the New Patriotic Party, Ghana’s democracy, and the nation as a whole.
