Four out of the top five European leagues will commence this weekend with an intriguing fixtures.
Aside the German Bundesliga, the remaining top-flights including English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, Frecnh Ligue 1 and the Italian Serie A will kick start this weekend.
BrytSports brings to you Ghanaian players who have been tipped to light up the various leagues this season.
English Premier League:
The Premier League campaign will feature a couple of Black Stars, who have in recent times established themselves as key figures of the national team. These players are expected to compete each other in English top-flight this season.
Thomas Partey: It is appears the former Atletico Madrid star will remain at Arsenal despite transfer speculations. He faced challenges last season due to injury setbacks. Following an impressive preseason, the Ghanaian midfielder has been tipped to light the Premier League with Arsenal.
Mohammed Kudus: He enjoyed an amazing debut Premier League campaign after switching from Ajax to join West Ham United last summer. He racked up eight goals and provided five assists, justifying his qualities. Having made an immediate impact, Kudus is expected to go extra mile to make impact in his second season in England.
Jordan Ayew: The Black Stars forward has been a key player for Crystal Palace since joining the club in 2018. He had limited game time under Oliver Glasner latter part of last season but his outstanding preseason performance is a positive sign for the Ghanaian going into the new season. With one year left on his contract, Ayew has attracted interest from fellow Premier League club, Leicester City and Saudi clubs.
Jeffery Schlupp: He had an amazing preseason, scoring a couple of games for Crystal Palace and also helping the club to win the Stateside Cup in America. He has always been an important player for the Eagles and could be pivotal this season.
Fatawu Issahaku: The Black Stars winger was instrumental in Leicester City’s quick Premier League return. He impressive performance earned him a permanent move from Sporting CP. The winger racked up six goals and provided 13 assists as the Foxes secure promotion to the top-flight. He will be an important player for the side this season.
Antoine Semenyo: He was one of the brightest spot in the Bournemouth squad las season, scoring some important goals for the club. The Black Stars forward was the second highest scorer for the Cherries with eight goals and was also nominated for the Player of the season prize. Bournemouth will hugely depend on the Ghanaian following the departure of Dominic Solanke, the club highest scorer last season.
Tariq Lamptey: He was not consistent for Brighton and Hove Albion last season due to injuries. He is expected to miss his side opening game this game but he will be a valuable asset for the team due to his versatility.
Kamaldeen Sulemana: Noted for his dribbling abilities and pace, the Ghanaian winger could torment defender in the Premier League this season. He was instrumental for Southampton as they secure return to the league. Meanwhile, he will miss the opening game due to an injury he sustained in preseason.
Spanish La Liga:
The Spanish La Liga, one of the most exciting leagues in the world will commence this evening. Only a few Ghanaian players are expected to feature in the league this season.
Joseph Aidoo: The tough-tackling defender is back from a lengthy injury and is expected to solidify the defense of Celta Vigo. He was sidelined for nine months after picking up an injury while in action for Black Stars last October. He was involved in the club’s preseason training and appears to be ready for the new season.
Abdul Mumin: The Black Stars defender has been an important player for Rayo Vallecano since joining the club from Victoria Guimaraes. He produced a solid performance last season, keeping top attackers at bay.
Inaki Williams: He made his debut for Athletic Bilbao in 2015 and has been an integral member of the team. Last season, he light up both La Liga and Copa del Rey. He was instrumental when his outfit clinched the Copa del Rey last term. He will be key for the Basque side as they aim to make impact this season.
Italian Serie A:
Serie returns this weekend and a few Ghanaian are expected to feature in the league this campaign.
Emmanuel Gyasi: He helped Empoli to survive relegation at the end of last season. He racked up fewer number of goals an attacker but he has been tipped to make amends this season with his goal scoring techniques.
Alfred Duncan: He will be the main man for Venezia, who have secured promotion to the top-flight league. Duncan recently ended his stay with Fiorentina after almost four-year stint. He holds the record at the Ghanaian with most appearances in Serie A. He has made 304 appearances in Italy’s top flight, scoring 14 goals and providing 17 assists. However, his capabilities can never be doubted.
Ibrahim Sulemana: He is one of the fast-rising defensive midfielders Ghana can boast off. He has made significant moves in the past seasons due to his swashbuckling performance as a midfielder. He joined Cagliari from Hellas Verona before recently joining Atalanta. He is expected to play a huge role for the club.
Caleb Ekuban: He recently earned contract extension due to his impressive performance for Genoa last season. Although, he didn’t score much goals as expected but he was key to the clubs relegation survival. He had a good preseason and could be a valuable asset for Genoa.
French Ligue 1:
Paris Saint Germain will begin their title defense this weekend as some Ghanaian players battle them with their clubs for the ultimate.
Ernest Nuamah: Known for his dribbling abilities and pace, the enterprising winger is expected to play a huge role for Lyon this season. He was outstanding last season as the club survived relegation following a poor start to the season last term.
Alidu Seidu: He joined Stade Rennes last January from Clermont Foot, who suffered relegation from the top-flight. Despite not impressing halfway season, he has been tipped performance for Rennes this season. He is considered as one of the tough-tackling defenders.
Abdul Salis Samed: The Black Stars will be hoping to rediscover his form this season following a dip in performance last term. He was limited to playing time latter part of the campaign.
Augustine Boakye: The midfielder joined Saint Etienne from Wolfsberger AC this summer. He enjoyed a good performance last season, earning him a move to France. He is be key for Saint Etienne, who has secured promotion back to the top-flight.
Gideon Mensah: The Black Stars defender played a huge role to help Auxerre return to the Ligue 1. He will be key in the top-flight for the club this season.
Elisha Owusu: He is one of the captains for Auxerre. Owusu showed glimpses of good performance last season as they secure promotion to the Ligue 1. He will be a valuable asset for the club this season.
