The Nigerian government has rejected claims that it is seeking debt forgiveness from China, despite advocating for global debt relief for developing countries at the UN General Assembly.
Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar stated, “No, that is not what we are discussing with China.”
Tuggar claims that Nigeria is not in a “precarious situation” with regards to its debt and said “China is prepared to lend more… and invest in Nigeria in terms of infrastructure development.”
