Former Ghana international, Yaw Acheampong, has hailed the appointment of Chris Hughton as head coach of the Black Stars.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the former Newcastle United and Brighton manager as the new coach of the national team on Sunday.
He replaces Otto Addo who resigned after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, the former Elmina Sharks and Eleven Wonders coach asserted “Hughton can bring something new on board at the Black Stars considering his experience in the job”.
“I don’t have any qualms with Chris Hughton’s appointment, we all want the best for the nation so we just have to put everything behind and support him and see how the future will be”.
“I think Hughton can bring something new on board considering his experience. There are concerns he does not know anything about our football but I believe he’s been able to learn something having being with the team for sometime”
Hughton worked with the national team as technical advisor during the World Cup playoff against Nigeria and was part of the team at the tournament in Qatar.
The former Brighton boss first assignment will be the AFCON 2023 qualifiers when Ghana takes on Angola next month.
