Members of The Church of Pentecost in Ghana have commenced 3-day fasting and prayers starting today November 10, 2022, over Ghana’s economic crisis.
According to the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Church’s Executive Council arrived at the decision in the wake of economic hardship being experienced in the country.
“It is apparent that the country for some time now has been going through some economic challenges which threaten the peace and security of the nation.
“The church in times like this has a divine responsibility to intercede for the nation,” he said.
Addressing the congregation on Sunday, the Chairman of COP, Apostle Eric Nyamekye told the members to adhere to the directive.
The fasting and prayers will be climaxed on Sunday.
The Koforidua Area Head of The Church of Pentecost Apostle Mike Etrue has directed all the assemblies to hold prayer programs in this regard.
Since the declaration of fasting and prayers, the Church has faced criticism for being hypocritical for not speaking truth to power about the root cause of Ghana’s economic problem being the mismanagement of the economy by the Akufo Addo-led government.
The critics say the Church has been mute over the rise in corruption, profligate expenditure, luxurious lifestyle of government officials and unreasonable collapse of indigenous banks, reckless borrowing among others which have greatly plunged the country into this mess.
