The Minority in Parliament is demanding for an immediate reinstatement of Gertrude Esaba Torkonoo as the bonafide Chief Justice of the republic.
The suspension of Gertrude Torkonoo was announced by the President Mahama after a prima facie case was established by the committee formed to probe the matter.
Speaking to journalists, the Deputy Minority Whip and MP for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib emphasized the position of the minority that the petitions were grounded on flimsy reasons.
He also added that an injunction on the removal process was filed by the defendant’s attorney, hence it is inappropriate for the president to suspend the woman while court processes on the injunction was still ongoing.
Jerry Ahmed entreated all women in this country to kick against the move as it violates the principle of the Affirmative Action (Gender Equity) Law.
