On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, deputy Lands and Natural Resources Minister George Mireku Duker received a World Bank team working together with the Ministries of Lands & Natural Resources and Environment to restore degraded lands and contribute towards the regularization of the small-scale mining sector.
The deputy minister tasked the team to hold up high collaboration and partnership as the cornerstone to the success of the Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small-Scale Mining Project (GLRSSMP).
He made this call when he opened the Kick-off Meeting for the last Implementation Support Mission of the Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small-Scale Mining Project by the World Bank team in Accra.
He, however, expressed the Ministry’s displeasure with the slow pace of project Implementation and hence, tasked the World Bank team and the various Project Coordinating Units (PCUs) to work hands-in-gloves to achieve the project targets.
