Officials of the Births and Deaths Registry engaged in a sensitisation exercise ahead of the implementation of the Community Population Register Initiative.
The officers visited communities like Abrenya, Akakom, Akortekrom in the eastern region; Fianko, Siiso, and Abuom in the Ahafo region; Kajaji and Dadetokro in the Bono east region to educate the members of the communities on the importance of a community population register.
They also informed them that these registers are envisaged to be properties of the community and will only act as documents of reference for the registration of birth and death events by officers of the births and deaths registry.
It is projected that full implementation of this project would cause the Births and Deaths Registry to take a giant leap towards achieving its ultimate vision of universal registration of birth and death events in Ghana.
