Akyem Begoro in Eastern Region is abuzz with controversy surrounding the concealment of the death of the Queenmother of the traditional area Nana Abena Seiwaa.
Despite persistent rumors circulating for weeks regarding the Queenmother’s demise, the family staunchly denied these allegations, leading to suspicions and declarations that she was missing.
The Begoro Development Association, responding to the growing uncertainty, applied pressure on the family to reveal the truth.
On Wednesday morning, December 6, 2023, tensions reached a peak as members of the Begoro Development Association converged at the palace.
Alongside some sub-chiefs, they summoned the family amid the beating of the fontomfrom traditional drums, symbolizing a grave situation.
In a dramatic turn of events, the family performed rituals, culminating in the official announcement of the Queenmother’s passing.
Nana Abena Seiwaa, enthroned as the Queenmother of Begoro in 2007 at the age of 45, played a pivotal role in the ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the region.
Her demise will have consequences on the ongoing dispute.
