The expat construction company, VAMED Engineering LTD with its local partner BATTES, has handed over the newly completed Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital to the Ghana Health Service.
The Somanya Hospital project was part of five (5) District Hospital Projects in Weta, Buipe, Tolon, Sawla Tuna Kalba, and Somanya initiated by John Dramani Mahama administration.
The handing over ceremony was attended by the representative of the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service and Sector Minister, Dr. Ebo Hammond, the Eastern Regional Health Director, Dr. Winfred Ofosu, Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo Albert Nyakotey, and the MCE for the area Ebenezer Tetteh Kupualor.
According to the Ghana Health Service, the facility has to be technically examined to ensure that the Contractor delivered the specification required by the terms of the contract to enable the contractor to rectify any defect identified during the liability period.
Dr. Ebo Hammond however added that the Hospital needs to be well furnished to make it operational anytime soon to provide healthcare to the people.
He said President Akufo Addo will Commission the hospital when ready.
The Member of Parliament, Albert Nyakotey, urged those who would be put in charge of the facility to ensure that they develop the necessary maintenance culture so that the facility would continue to be in good condition.
The chairman for the occasion who also doubled as a Board member of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and Government Appointee to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Hon. Simon Tawiah entreated those involved to ensure that the Hospital is equipped with the necessary commodities to kick start should cut down on unnecessary bureaucracy so that the Hospital can be put to use in a reasonable time.
The Hospital comes with four (4) semi-detached Staff Bungalow also has the following components; Administration, Laboratory, Out Patient Department, Public Health Centre, Rehabilitation Centre, Obstetrics and Neonatology Unit, Surgical and Intensive Care Unit, Maternity Bedward, General Bedward, Surgical Bedward, Emergency Unit, Oxygen Plant, Mortuary, Laundry, Logistics and Central Store, Facility Management, Disabled Parking Lodge, Public Parking and Staff Parking Lodge.
