The coronavirus case count in Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West District of the Eastern Region has increased marginally by one case within 24 hours.
This brings the total tally from 23 to 24. Nkawkaw seems to be the second epicenter after Koforidua which has recorded 32 cases.
The Kwahu West Municipal Health Director Celestine Asante explained to the media on Thursday, June 11, 2020, that, the confirmed cases are from 250 samples of the first three index cases recorded in March.
The first two index cases made up of two males and female adults were recorded at the Holy Family Hospital at Nkawkaw, while the third case was a resident of Nkawkaw who tested positive at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital at Kumasi.
The subsequently confirmed cases from contacts traced are made of both Children and adults.
Eastern Region case count has increased significantly from 198 to 208 within 24 hours.
Statistics by the Eastern Regional Health Directorate dated June 10, 2020, indicate the regional case Count has increased from 198 to 208.
The additional confirmed cases were recorded in West Akim (4), New Juaben South (3), Denkyembuor (2), and Birim Central (1).

Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has meanwhile risen to 10,358 following the confirmation of 157 new cases, according to the latest release by the Ghana Health Service on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
Sixty-nine (69) more people have also recovered from the disease, bringing the total recoveries to 3,824.
Fourteen (14) people are currently in critical condition while ten are in severe condition.
Ghana has so far done a total of 240,204 tests since March 2020.
