A 23 year old unemployed, Denis Adu Innocent has been convicted to 90 days imprisonment in hard labor by the Asamankese Circuit Court for stealing, unlawful entry, and causing damage.
Denis Adu Innocent pleaded guilty to three counts and was sentenced to 90 days each, all to run concurrently.
Prosecution officer, G/Sgt Samuel Owusu told the court presided over by His Honour Abubakari Adams Abass that the complainant is a trader in Asikafoamantem- Asamankese while the accused person also lives in an abandoned school building in Freetown, Asamankese.
He said on 10th September 2020, a witness, in this case, saw the accused person breaking into the complainant’s kiosk and decided to hide somewhere and monitor him.
In the process, the accused gathered some items such as madingo drinks, Kassapa ginger drink, orange drink, cooked kenkey and soup, cooking utensils, students mattress, cooking pot, all valued at ¢365.00, properties of one Margaret Sackey.
Later, the complainant came to the shop and detected that her shop key has been destroyed and found many items missing. A few minutes later, the witness came to the complainant and informed her what he saw and mentioned Adu Innocent as the thieve.
A report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and upon investigation, the accused confess taken the items and was later arraigned before court.
