President Nana Akufo-Addo will address the nation today Sunday, April 19, 2020, on the state of the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a statement intercepted from the Information ministry.
The President is expected to review the partial lockdown imposed on Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi metropolis and Awutu Senya East Municipality in the Central region.
Ban on social gatherings is also a matter many Ghanaians are anxious to hear the President speak to.
President Akufo-Addo, last week Thursday extended the earlier two weeks lockdown to another one week which is expected to expire by midnight today.
The latest address will put to rest speculations of either a total lockdown or an extension of the lockdown in some parts of the country amidst complaints from some businesses that they are suffering and require some reprieve.
The decision for the lockdown is a measure to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and also make it easy to do contact tracing of cases.
Ghana, as of Saturday, 18th April 2020 has recorded 834 confirmed cases, nine (9) deaths as well as 99 recoveries.
Meanwhile, the time for the address is yet to be communicated by the Information ministry.
