Cases and deaths of the Pandemic COVID-19 have increased from 12th to 18th August 2021 in Eastern Region, according to the Health Directorate.
Active cases have increased from 170 to 207 and the Cumulative deaths also surged from 94 to 102 as of 18th August 2021.

Cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases for the region – 5,578
Cumulative Health Workers infected – 1,164 (21.0%)
Cumulative students infected – 771 (13.9%)
Cumulative number of deaths – 102
Case Fatality Rate – 1.8%
Active cases – 207
Cumulative recoveries + Discharges – 5,269
Recovery rate as – 94.5%
