The Koforidua Police Training School in the Eastern Region has reopened despite extension on the closure of schools by the President.
The recruits of the Training School who were asked to go home when President of Ghana Akufo-Addo directed the closure of educational institutions and banned public gatherings as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus have been recalled.
On Sunday, May 12, 2020, President announced the extension of closure of schools, Churches, and mosques by another one month.
However, recruits of the Koforidua Training School have been recalled to the school to resume training.
The recruits started arriving Sunday, May 11, 2020. More than 100 have arrived from different parts of the country.
Surprisingly, the recruits are allegedly not medically screened before allowed to enter their various hostels.
Ghana has recorded 5,127 confirmed cases of coronavirus with recoveries remain at 494 with another 130 patients awaiting their second negative test to be declared recovered. 22 people have so far died from the killer bug with active cases at 4,611.
