The Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to health facilities in Yilo Krobo and Lower Manya Krobo Municipalities of the Eastern Region.
The items include N95 nose masks, Hand Sanitizers, Veronica buckets, face masks, Surgical gloves, washbasins, waste bins, liquid soaps, and paper tissues.
A month ago, Mr. Mahama made similar donations of pair of Gumboots, disposal coverall suits, Medical Protective overall suits, goggles, face masks, and hand sanitizers to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua and Hawa Memorial Hospital in Akyem Osiem.
Presenting the items on behalf of the NDC Flagbearer to the beneficiary Health facilities – Somanya Polyclinic, Somanya Health & Disease Control Centre and Atua Government Hospital, the NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Yilo Krobo, Albert Nyakotey backed by the incumbent Member of Parliament Magnus Kofi Amoatey, said the donation by the former President is part of his contribution to the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country.
He said frontline health workers at the forefront of this pandemic need to be motivated to continuously give off their best to help contain the disease hence the donation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Atua Government Hospital which is a COVID-19 Isolation and treatment center, the Head of Pharmacy, Pharm. Bertha Abakah thanked the NDC Flagbearer for the support.
Some dozens of health workers in Ghana have tested positive for Covid-19.
Ghana’s novel coronavirus cases have increased to 5,530 with recoveries also rising to 674 as of May 14, 2020.
The cases have risen by 122 from the previous figure of 5,408.
13 Out of 16 regions in Ghana have recorded cases. Savanna, Bono, and Ahafo regions are the three regions yet to record cases.
Eastern Region case count still stands at 99. Lower Manya Krobo municipality is the epicenter of the Eastern region with over 70 confirmed cases recorded among construction workers.
