The National Identification Authority (NIA) has released a number of its operational vehicles to support the tracking, tracing and testing exercise being undertaken by Government health officials as part of the Nation’s COVID-19 containment effort.
This was contained in a release signed by ACI Francis Palmdeti, Head, Corporate Affairs-NIA today Saturday, April 11, 2020.
According to the release, “some of the vehicles have also been deployed in the distribution of food and other relief items to persons in need of such support during the partial lock-down of Kasoa, Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi and adjoining communities.”
“The deployed vehicles, which are being operated by NIA drivers, comprise fifty-two (52) white pick-up trucks, ten (10) branded pick-up trucks, eleven (11) white vans, and four (4) branded vans.”
The release of the vehicles, according to him followed a request by the Ministry of National Security with the approval of the Office of the Chief of Staff.
“Members of the general public are entreated to give this government effort their unqualified support and to observe the prescribed protocols of social distancing and maintenance of personal hygiene through regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers.”
