Many patients who have been visiting the Eastern Regional Hospital -Koforidua for healthcare, of late continue to complain over lack of attention by Nurses and Doctors.
Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered that many staff has been asked to stay home. Out-Patient Departmental (OPD) service has also been partially closed.
The move is in line with Ghana Heath Service directive for the withdrawal “National Service Personnel, interns, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and drivers without an assigned official vehicle.”
Rotational Nurses and officers in the residency program are however exempted from the excuse from work directive.
The Directive by GHS is binding on all health facilities across the country as a way to reduce staff strength to ostensibly prevent coronavirus infections among staff.
In a Memorandum issued by the Director-General of GHS Dr. Patrick Aboagye also directed that “all Directors and Deputy Directors are required to be at the post during this period and those who need to take days off are to request in writing”
The Memo prohibited visits to all Health facilities except those who have specific appointments.

President of Ghana Akufo-Addo on March 27, 2020, announced a partial lockdown of the Nation’s Capital-Accra and Parts of Greater Kumasi for two weeks as an enhanced measure to prevent increasing community spread having closed down all Borders -Land, sea and Air spaces. The government also imposed mandatory 14 days quarantine for returnees in the country. Additionally, the President has established a COVID-19 Fund to help mobilize resources to fight the pandemic.
