In the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Asuogyaman District Assembly and the Akwamu Traditional Council on Monday, 21st April 2020 continued with their routine education in some communities on the need to strictly adhere to the protocols in the fight against the virus.
Various speakers who addressed the gathering urged the public to frequently wash their hands (that is, in between the fingers and nails) for at least 20 seconds with soap under running water, sneeze or cough into an issue and dispose of it immediately after use, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, avoiding of shaking of hands, and observing social distancing.
According to confirmed cases on the verified Facebook page of the Ministry of Health indicates that Ghana as of April 19th, 2020 has recorded 1042 cases with 99 recoveries and total death of 9 with Eastern region recording 51 cases while the Asuogyaman District has 10 cases.
Dignitaries who toured the communities were Hon. Samuel Kwame Agyekum, DCE, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Paramount Chief of Akwamu Traditional Area, Hon Paul Asare, NPP parliamentary candidate, Hon. Thomas Ampem Nyarko, incumbent MP for Asuogyaman, Mr. Akoto Siaw and Chief Superintendent Cosmos Damoah of the Akosombo Police Command.
Communities visited include; Akrade, South Senchi, Atimpoku, and Akosombo.
