Ghana’s current economic woes have been attributed to the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and the emergence of the Russia-Ukraine impasse.
Finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is, however, calling on all Ghanaians to support the government in reviving the economy and bringing it back on track.
Announcing measures undertaken by the government in resolving current Ghana’s economic challenges, the minister emphasised that, the Akufo-Addo led administration has done creditably well in managing the economy despite the global pandemic countries find themselves currently.
Mr Ofori-Atta stressed the New Patriotic Party, NPP over the years have mitigated difficult economic situations in 2001 and 2016 when former President John Agyekum Kuffuor and Nana Akufo-Addo when the party took power from late President Jerry John Rawlings and former President John Dramani Mahama respectively.
“I know Ghanaians have stood beside us before and would do the same this time around. We did it in 2001 when former President John Agyekum Kuffuor took over power and the party did the same in 2016 when President Akufo-Addo also took the power of a broken economy” the minister stated.
He, therefore, urge all Ghanaians to support the passage of the controversial electronic levy (e-levy) to help government raise enough money to revive the economy.
