The paramount Chief of Kwahu Traditional Area, Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II has urged Kwahu residents to take personal responsibilities for their safety in order to avoid the coronavirus pandemic.
He made the call when he chaired a meeting of various stakeholders in Kwahu to discuss their preparedness and have first-hand knowledge, with regards to the devastating coronavirus pandemic.
Medical directors from Kwahu Govt Hospital Atibie, and the Holy Family Hospital, Nkawkaw briefed Nananom about their preparedness, which includes designated isolation centres and other measures taken to protect residents in Kwahu, in the unlikely event of an outbreak in Kwahu.
They appealed for logistics to aid their work effectively.
A local committee on Covid-19, which includes MMDCE’s, medical professionals, security agencies and other bodies has been formed, and they will liaise with National authorities for approval of some local restrictions. In the event that such restrictions are imposed, they shall solicit residents support and cooperation
Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong, therefore, advised the MMDCE’s in Kwahu to carry out more public education and provide logistics to help fight the pandemic.
“I am impressed with the preparations so far by the health officials, even though they are inadequately resourced” he added.
“Ɔboɔmma, we are in unusual times. I urge all of us to take personal responsibility for our safety. Let us strictly obey all directives by the Ghana Health Service, chiefly amongst them being washing of hands regularly with soap and running water, staying home if possible, covering your mouth when sneezing, and maintain social distancing” he advised.
