The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is set to hold its congress tomorrow, August 22, 2020, to elect national officers and its flagbearer for the 2020 presidential election in the Greater Accra Region.
At the close of nominations on August 3, 2020, 19 stalwarts of the CPP had filed their nominations to contest various positions.
Out of the number, three filed to contest the flagbearer position, four for the national chairman position, three for the three vice chairperson positions, three for the position of general secretary, two for the national organizer, and two each for the positions of women organizer and youth organizer.
Congress shall elect the national chairperson, national vice-chairpersons, the general secretary, the national treasurer, the national organizer, the national women’s organizer, and the national youth organizer.
At the close of the nomination, no one had filed for the position of national treasurer.
In a related development, the New Patriotic Party will also launch its manifesto in Cape Coast on Saturday, August 22, 2020.
The drafting of the manifesto, according to the NPP General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu, was supervised by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said it will be presented to the party’s council of elders before the launch.
