At a reception hosted by the British High Commission, Ghana’s Vice president Professor Jane Nana Opoku-Agyemang and other panelists focused on strengthening the link between data and policy.
They discussed how data-driven insights are crucial for effective governance and national development.
The Vice President highlighted the importance of using data for informed decision-making, sharing how data on teacher absenteeism helped reduce rates from 27% to 7% during my time at the Ministry of Education.
Discussions also emphasised on data’s role in evaluation, planning, monitoring, and resource allocation, and how transparency in data use builds public trust.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing data-driven policies for national development.
