Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, has invited former President John Dramani Mahama to accept the debate challenge so that he may expose the Vice President’s alleged lies.
The NPP Regional Chairman argues the discussion will give the former President the ideal opportunity to sufficiently support his and his party’s accusations that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP presidential candidate are both liars.
“I think Mr. Mahama has a very fine opportunity to sink Dr. Bawumia once and for all and I will encourage him to accept the challenge without hesitation”, Chairman Wontumi asserted.
In the event that former President Mahama accepts the debate challenge and is successful in proving Vice President Bawumia to be a liar, as they have consistently said, the Regional Chairman continued, he is prepared to leave the ruling party and join the opposition NDC.
“I am ready to join Mr. Mahama and the NDC if they are able to engage Dr. Bawumia and expose him as a liar. I am daring the former President to take up the challenge”, Chairman Wontumi stated.
There have been widespread cries for the NDC flagbearer to accept Dr. Bawumia’s challenge to a one-on-one economic debate.
Despite the opposing party’s refusal to accept the challenge, calling it a “bait,” many analysts believe it will provide a useful platform for evaluating the two front-runners prior to the pivotal elections on December 7, 2024.
