Dr. Nii Amu Darko, Founder and Leader of the African Reform Movement, has condemned the Akufo-Addo-led government’s ‘evil’ and ‘illegal’ plans to include pensioners in the ongoing debt exchange program.
The retirees have rejected the decision and have been picketing at the Ministry of Finance since February 6, demanding that they be fully removed from the program.
On Friday, February 10, former Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, joined the pensioners to picket condemning the attempt to include the pensioners as ‘wicked and illegitimate’.
In an interview with MG News on Monday, February 13, presidential candidate Dr. Nii Amu Darko questioned why the elderly should be forced to pay if the government needed money.
“Where did the money go? Why is it that if the money goes somewhere the vulnerable should be made to pay?”, he quizzed.
He insists the government cannot make pensioners pay “for your mismanagement”.
“It is just evil, apart from being illegal”, he added.
