Denmark Embassy in Ghana Deputy Head of Mission, Vibeke Sandholm Pedersen, participated in the annual Danish-supported street sports festival and culture at DUNK Grassroots in James Town, here in Accra.
She congratulated the Danish and Ghanaian organisers for the successful event and encouraged the participating youngsters and children to continue their active lifestyles.
This year’s event which was under the theme “Inclusive Sports for All”, had 300 children and 50 youths from 6 locations participating from the 26th – 27th of November.
The festival also consisted of a “training of the trainers” component, which means that a group of young Ghanaians aged 18 – 25 years have now been empowered to deliver weekly sports training to children aged 8-15years living in disadvantaged communities of Accra and Tamale.
The Danish organisations GAME and the Civil Society in Development (CISU) have been sponsoring this street sports festival over the years, which is carried out in cooperation with DUNK.
