The Upper Manya Krobo district is predominantly a farming district with tons of food produced year to feed the nation.
However, the district cannot boast of a single tarred road as condition of deplorable roads continue to deteriorate making it difficult for farmers to transport their farm produce to the market centers.
Roads to farming communities continue to deteriorate impeding on agriculture as farmers struggle to transport their farm produce to market centers especially whenever it rains.
Okada and motorized tricycles are therefore available and popular means of transport for the farmers .
The deteriorating condition of roads in the district does not only affect agriculture, but also continue to have negative impact on maternal health as pregnant women suffer complications and miscarriage whenever they sit on Okada to health centers and market.
Assembly member, Tekpatey David Tei said the deteriorating condition of roads In the area is affecting farming and discouraging many youth to go into farming.
He wants government to intervene by awarding the roads to contract for tarring.
Meanwhile,a 62Km Koforidua to Asesewa to Abuorso highway awarded to contract in 2021 has stalled.
The deteriorating condition of roads have compelled the Member of Parliament for Upper Manya Krobo, Bismark Nyarko to hire grader with his share of the common fund to rehabilitate some deteriorating roads such as Akatawia to Sekesua road ,Summer junction to Breponso -Osonson-Korlenya.
Other roads rehabilitated include Brepor-Fefe-Kokoney road,Korhwe-Brepor road, Odometa road.
Apart from these, the MP has constructed culvert on roads such as Sutri-Akwenor ,Tibuorso,Bomase-Siblinor ,Akrusum and Akotoe.
