Deputy Lands and Natural Resources minister, George Mireku-Duker paid a working visit to the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC) secretariat to familiarize day-to-day to day activities of the corporation.
In his engagement with the Management and staff of the corporation, the minister tasked them to deliver on their mandate as enshrined by the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation Act 2019 (Act 988), to establish a robust Iron and Steel Industry which acknowledges local content policy along the value chain.
He again urged the management to deepen stakeholder engagement in the Oti Region and all operational areas in line with its activities to clear doubts about tagging the entire mining chain as a bad entity and to conscientize the communities on the benefits and impacts of responsible exploitation of Iron in the Region.
Hon. Mireku-Duker further tasked the management to properly showcasmilestonesestone chalked to Ghanaians and are effective local content in the allocation of the iron ore blocks to prospective investors.
Mr. Kwabena Bonsu Fodjour, the Chief Executive Officer for GIISDEC in his remarks expressed his gratitude for the visit and assured me to work expeditiously to achieve the objective of the corporation.
