The Deputy Minister of Finance Designate Thomas Ampem Nyarko has assured the people of Ghana that he will remain dedicated to the task and serve with integrity to improve the financial standing of Ghana
” I want to assure the people of Ghana that I will remain dedicated to the task. I am aware of the uphill tasks and the expectations therein. I shall be working with integrity and with the commitment and dedication that will be required of me to secure economic prosperity and good financial standing for our beloved country”.Thomas Ampem Nyarko stated in a Facebook post hours after he was nominated by President John Mahama as Deputy Finance Minister Designate.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude from the good people of Asuogyaman constituency whom he represents as Member of Parliament, to the President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress(NDC), for the honor to serve as Deputy Minister of Finance for the Republic of Ghana.
“It is an honor not just for me but stands as a testament to the trust that the President, as well as the National Democratic Congress, have in me and the people I represent”.
Thomas Ampem Nyarko was born on February 14, 1978, and hails from Anum in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
He obtained an MSc in Finance in 2010 from Virginia Commonwealth University in the United States. Prior to earning his master’s degree, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He served as District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman before becoming Member of Parliament in 2017 till date.
Thomas Ampem Nyarko previously served as chairman of the Budget Committee in the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, where he oversaw and scrutinized government spending.
He was also a member of the Finance Committee from 2020 to 2024, where he made invaluable contributions.
From April 2012 to September 2013, Ampem worked as director of finance for the Inter-Ministerial Coordinatir Committee (IMCC) on Decentralisation at the Office of the President.
