The Suhum Municipal Assembly in the Eastern region has handed over 247 student desks to the education directorate to mitigate the desk deficit in the municipality.
Suhum like many parts of the country is facing a deficit of desks in many schools forcing pupils to swarm on the few available desks.
Handing over the desks, the Municipal Chief Executive Margaret Darko Darkwa stated that the provision of the furniture is one of the many initiatives from President Akufo Addo to ensure quality education.
The MCE also handed over a one-and-a-half plot of land to the Suhum Education Service for the construction of an office complex.
The Education Director Mrs. Angelina Aba Osei Bonsu said the huge desk deficit was a headache.
She, therefore, commended the intervention but appealed for more.
