The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng in an interview has revealed that he has some detractors who are fasting and praying hoping he will fail the fight against corruption yet will make an effort to break that mindset.
According to Mr. Agyebeng, he is properly set up before assuming office therefore those critics should find something better to do than sit in their houses and write something for people to believe them.
He stated that while people are eager for his failure, there are also well-meaning Ghanaians who want the fight against corruption to become a success.
Mr. Agyebeng added that he will not allow any electoral officer to fiddle with the election in favor of a particular political party.
However, any electoral officer that will fix their intention to fraud the election will not go scot-free and would be prosecuted.
He noted; “If you are an electoral officer or a returning officer and you change results I am going after you…immediately u declare the results I am going after it and match polling stations and matching pink sheets with pink sheets and if they don’t tally I am going after you,” he said.
He added that probing electoral rigging falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of the Special Prosecutor and does not need to wait for the Supreme Court before the probes any electoral-related rigging.
Mr. Agyebeng however shrugged off claims by his predecessor, Martin Amidu, that he is a poodle of the ruling NPP government.
To him, those claims by Mr. Amidu are unfortunate adding he is a man of integrity and would not allow himself to be influenced by the government.
