Former President and 2020 Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has charged President Nana Akufo-Addo to develop the newly created regions.
Mr. Mahama stated that the president cannot just create regions in name adding that the regions must be worthy of being called regions.
He said that the new region needs infrastructure projects for improvement.
Addressing a gathering of party executives and supporters at Nalerigu in the North East Region, Mr. Mahama affirmed that Ghanaians don’t only need the regional boundaries to be re-drawn but they need regional infrastructures development.
On the second day of his tour of the five northern regions to thank Ghanaians for their vote and support in the 2020 elections, Mr. Mahama indicated that the government should avert its mind to the security situation in the northern part of the country adding that there can be no progress and prosperity without security.
President Mahama complained about the increasing spate of armed robberies in the region.
Former President Mahama also identified low morale and the lack of logistics for the police to fight crime as part of the reason for the insecurity situation and called on the government to urgently address the situation.
