At the SDG Summit Action Weekend high level session dubbed “From Billions to Trillions-Scaling-Up Energy Compacts to Deliver on SDG7” on the peripheries of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA, Energy minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh reminded developed countries of the urgent need to support developing countries in our collective quest at ensuring that we reach our net-zero targets.
This, he said must be done through the provision of the required funding and technology, especially as pledges made in this direction have not been forthcoming.
The minister underscored our determination to develop our energy resources for the benefit of our people and which same must be respected with no interference.
“As His Excellency the President is expected to launch our Energy Transition Investment Plan (ETIP) later this week in New York, I have no doubt that, together with the transition framework, Ghana will achieve net-zero in a just and equitable manner not compromising the economic well-being of its citizens” he stressed.
