The Director-General of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Kodjo Mensah-Abrampah, and his team have visited Eastern Region to assess the level of preparation of all 33 districts and Municipal Assemblies in the region for the preparation of the District Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP).
The District Medium Term Development Plan is a major step to the preparation of the drafting of the Medium-Term National Development Policy Framework (MTNDPF, 2022-2025) for the next three years.
The new draft policy framework will succeed the MTNDPF, 2018-2021, also known as “An Agenda for Jobs: Creating Prosperity and Equal Opportunity for All” which ends in 2021.
Dr. Mensah-Abrampa urged the Assemblies to avoid needless competition and duplication of plans and programs but rather come out with plans that would complement each other taking into consideration the comparative advantage of individual Assembly.
He also encouraged all public servants and the general public to have the vision of the country’s” agenda for jobs, creating prosperity and equal opportunities” at their fingertips, be part of daily discourse, and work towards the realizations of it.
Highlighting some of the achievements of the NDPC in the last few years, Dr. Mensah-Abrampa said the current massive improvement in the service delivery of some key institutions like Passport Office, Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority, Registrar General Department, Birth, and Death Registry, and PRAAD was there to attest.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong assured the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), the region’s commitment to the guidelines and the full implementation of Medium-Term Development Plans of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and Municipal/ District Assemblies that would complement the overall National objectives.
He urged the Municipal/District Assemblies to take advantage of the opportunity granted by the Commission and share all the necessary information that would facilitate the process of Plan preparation.
